For years, I planned to bake bread, but the memory of the bread that friends baked in the 60's and 70's kept me from it. Do you remember the heavy bricks of homemade "bread" that smelled of wheatgerm, and tasted like cardboard? We were assured that it was very good for us, even though it was barely chewable. And the time and measuring involved! Well friends, my daughter Alexis gave me a book of recipes for rustic breads that are very easy to make, and today I made real bread! It looks like real bread, and it tastes like real bread, and I am very excited!
